Symposium: Building a Child and Youth Centered Community
Friday, April 26, 2024 | 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
McGavick Conference Center, Clover Park Technical College

Greentrike's annual Symposium is a half-day event to inspire, provoke and engage the community to collectively work toward making Pierce County the best place to experience childhood from birth to 25. We celebrate the work being done in our communities on behalf of children and youth, exchange knowledge and ideas, and identify actions we can take together to build a community that acknowledges, nurtures, and benefits from the capabilities of its young people.

This year's event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Calvin Mackie, founder of STEM NOLA, a nonprofit that brings STEM opportunities to underserved students in Louisiana. We will also hear from local sector leaders who are championing children and youth through their work to enhance inclusivity for children with developmental delays and disabilities, bolster neighborhood advocacy efforts, and improve access to childcare in Pierce County.

A panel of youth from across Pierce County will share their priorities for their communities during a youth panel and multiple collaborative activities will engage attendees in networking, strategizing, and community building around the idea of child and youth centeredness.
